The music refuses easy categorization: opener Ain establishes the band’s dynamic range immediately, shifting between elaborate fretwork and athletic drumming, visceral punk-fueled blasts, and moments of glittering, mystical ambiance. Funeral Pyre of Will erupts as a rebellious riot; Adamas Voluntatem is the album’s centrepiece and its most head-spinning achievement; The Holy Nachash closes the record with serpentine menace.
