There are albums that define a scene. The Primigeni Xul (I Condemned My Enemies) is one of them — the debut full-length of Santiago’s Dominus Xul, recorded in 1998 and originally released in 2000 on Picoroco Records, now properly reissued by Spreading the Pest in a jewel case edition with 12-page booklet. The band emerged from the ashes of Dominus, one of Chile’s earliest extreme metal acts (founded 1992), and The Primigeni Xul arrived as the culmination of years of underground work by founding guitarist and creative force Alejandro Lizana — featuring the late Danny Grave on vocals, whose loss would eventually dissolve the original lineup. The album is eleven tracks of heavy, dark, and uncompromising death metal that draws directly from the lineage of Incantation’s Onward to Golgotha and early Immolation: sulphuric atmosphere, deadly blasting raids alternating with slow, doom-drenched breakdowns, and anti-Christian occult imagery steeped in ancient darkness.
