From Temuco, in the heart of southern Chile’s La Araucanía region, Dead Moon Temple have been quietly building one of the country’s most atmospheric and introspective black metal visions since 2013. Ænigmasólvoid is their debut full-length — originally self-released digitally in July 2018, and brought to physical format as a limited digipak by Chilean black metal label Antikosmos Records — and it is a record that rewards patience and immersion. Eight tracks across just over 52 minutes, recorded at Humo de Temu studio in Temuco in 2017, mixed and mastered at Equinox Media in Rancagua, and remastered by Victor Lr in Concepción. The album drifts through spectral, slow-burning atmospheres and moments of cold intensity — from the brief, ominous intro Ænigma through the sprawling melancholy of Obelisk of Grief, the introspective weight of Dissociative Introjection and The Sun Inside, to the nine-minute closing drift of Where the Moonlight Dies. This is black metal for cold southern nights — cerebral, emotionally dense, and unmistakably rooted in the austere landscapes of La Araucanía.
