Not to be confused with the Italian death metal act of the same name, Medellín’s Daemoniac have been serving Colombia’s underground black metal scene since 2008, and Regents of Chaos stands as one of their most focused and fully-realized statements. Eight tracks of raw, occult-obsessed black metal built around cosmic and demonic themes — Under the Shadow of Rigel, Regents of Chaos, Ancient Legions, Funeral of the Dark Conquerors, Returns of Rigelians, Laments of Death — the album paints a dark cosmology in which infernal forces rule over a dying universe. The production is raw and underground as it should be, with the South American black metal sensibility firmly intact: cold riffs, relentless pace, and a total commitment to the underground aesthetic that has defined the Colombian scene since its earliest days.
