New York’s Combat — originally operating as Napalm in their 1985–1986 incarnation — are one of the forgotten mutations of the early American underground, a band that fused hardcore’s aggression with the emerging thrash metal attack in a way that predated many of the genre’s better-known crossover acts. Founded by brothers Jeff “Terminator” Rossbach (guitar) and Rex “Deadfoot” Rossbach (drums), the band played their last show with the original lineup at the legendary CBGB club on June 15, 1986 — a Sunday hardcore matinee — before dissolving, only to be resurrected in the 2000s with a reformed lineup that pushed further into thrash and recorded new material before fading again. Napalm Sticks to Everything, released by Russian underground label HTH Productions in 2013, is the definitive document of both eras: a double CD set with 32 tracks and a 12-page booklet, completely unmastered and presented in fully original sound. CD1 collects the reformed band’s Demo 2008, Promo 2007, and the Heading South live set from 2003; CD2 delivers the essential historical material — the raw and ferocious 1986 CBGB live recording alongside both 1985 demos, Mind Melt and Let the Battle Begin.
