Nobody saw Kazakhstan coming. Seven Sins — a quintet from one of the world’s most unexpected metal outposts — delivered their sophomore album Due Diaboli et Apocalypse in 2016 and left reviewers genuinely stunned. Nearly 50 minutes of symphonic black/death metal that lands somewhere between Fleshgod Apocalypse’s orchestral ferocity and Dimmu Borgir’s grandiose darkness, yet carved with its own identity through cinematic arrangements, ethereal female vocals on tracks like Seraphim, and subtle Central Asian textures that surface in Avicenna. Viktor Medvedev’s vocals shift between mid-ranged snarls and emphatic roars without ever becoming monotonous, while Victor Streltsov’s keyboards build atmosphere without smothering the brutality underneath. The lyrics are delivered in Russian, adding a grim and alien weight to the whole experience. A genuinely surprising and accomplished record from a scene nobody knew existed. Seven Sins — un quinteto proveniente de uno de los lugares más improbables del metal mundial — entregó su segundo álbum Due Diaboli et Apocalypse en 2016 y dejó a los críticos genuinamente sorprendidos. Casi 50 minutos de black/death metal sinfónico que se sitúa entre la ferocidad orquestal de Fleshgod Apocalypse y la grandiosidad oscura de Dimmu Borgir, aunque tallado con identidad propia a través de arreglos cinematográficos, voces femeninas etéreas en temas como Seraphim, y texturas centroasiáticas que emergen sutilmente en Avicenna. Las voces de Viktor Medvedev oscilan entre gruñidos medios y rugidos enfáticos sin volverse monótonos jamás, mientras los teclados de Victor Streltsov construyen atmósfera sin sofocar la brutalidad subyacente.
